Walk with a Zen Philosopher
Experience the Living Spirit of Japan — and of Yourself.
This is not sightseeing.
It is a meditative journey through silence, philosophy, and presence.
In the quiet temples and forest paths of Kamakura, you are invited to experience what cannot be explained — the still awareness that Zen calls Ku, or emptiness.
To walk slowly and mindfully here is to meet the deepest part of yourself.
Your Guide
My name is T. Murata, a Zen philosopher and spiritual coach.
I hold a DPhil from the University of Oxford and was born and raised in Kamakura — home to some of Japan’s oldest Zen temples.
For over 30 years, I have practiced meditation and explored consciousness through both Eastern and Western philosophy.
My role is not to teach doctrines, but to walk beside you — in silence, dialogue, and awareness.
The Spirit of Zen — Beyond Words
| Concept | Essence |
|---|---|
| Ma (間) | The sacred pause between things — where presence breathes. |
| Seijaku (静寂) | Stillness that vibrates with quiet life. |
| Ku / Mu (空・無) | Emptiness as fullness — where self and universe are one. |
These are not ideas to understand, but experiences to feel.
Together, we explore them not through discussion, but through direct awareness — walking, breathing, being.
Available Experiences
- Zen & Silence Walk — North Kamakura
(forest temples, mindful walking, reflection) - Sea Meditation — Inamuragasaki
(ocean view, breathing with the rhythm of waves) - Urban Stillness Walk — Tokyo
(finding calm within motion)
Each walk lasts about 2–3 hours and is designed as a bridge between outer landscape and inner awareness.
